Mobius M108S Trimmer
Tumbler Removal & Installation
Removal & Installation of the Airthread Tension Tumbler
Step by Step
Start by making sure your unit is unplugged, and then locking the wheels.
Next, remove the front screen and then open the lid.
Pop the brush out and set it aside.
Now you'll install the tumbler into the lid. Your tumbler may or may not have a raised fin on one end-cap.
If your tumbler has this fin, remember to insert the fin into the corresponding groove. The end without the fin goes into the lid first.
Slide the tumbler through making sure that the fin slides into the groove. If your tumbler does not have this fin, it doesn't matter which end goes in first.
Next up is the blue tumbler retaining ring on the infeed side of the machine. Fit it on the end of the tumbler and twist to the locked position.
If you see silver on the tabs of the tumbler retaining ring, it is not in the fully-locked position.
Push the two handlebars on the SpringJack into the receptacles on the infeed side of the lid. Lean into the SpringJack with your weight. You're pushing air out of the piston of the SpringJack through a small air valve, so it may take a few seconds until you can turn the handles inward to lock.
Turn the air release valve on the SpringJack to the closed position. The handles and the air release valve should be in a straight line.
Attach your air supply to the Schraeder valve on the SpringJack and pressurize. It may take 100 to 130 psi to fully compress the SpringPack.
The tumbler retaining ring should be just past the edge of the lid.
On the outfeed side of the lid, straighten the tumbler cables as much as possible.
Now you'll lock on the outfeed side tumbler retaining ring. Our preferred method is to put your fingers just inside the tumbler, pull it towards you, and rotate the ring with your thumbs.
With the retaining ring fully-locked double-check that the tumbler cables are straight, running parallel to the frame of the lid.
Now, on the SpringJack, you'll turn the air-release valve to the open position. You should see the cables of the tumbler draw tight.
Grab the handles on the SpringJack and rotate the handles outward to release it from the lid.
Just to be sure, always do a final check to make sure the tumbler retaining rings are in the fully-locked position, the tumbler is under tension, and the tumbler can rotate freely.
Replace the brush and screen and close the M108S lid.
Now perform a quick 6-point inspection and you're ready to trim.
When it's time to remove the tumbler, again, start by removing the front screen, opening the lid, and removing the brush.
Now simply reverse the installation steps.
Install the SpringJack and pressurize.
Remove the Tumbler Retaining Ring on the Outfeed side.
Deflate and remove the SpringJack.
Remove the tumbler retaining ring on the infeed side.
Now just slide the tumbler out of the lid and you're all done.
