We had the opportunity to speak with Root One CEO, Jon McColley, to find out what led his company to select, purchase, and deploy a series of Mobius M108S Trimmers.

Root One Botanicals is a fast-growing, licensed cannabis processor and distributor located in Northern California’s “Emerald Triangle.” Root One collaborates with regional farmers to bring top-quality cannabis products to the marketplace.

 

THE PROBLEM

 

Root One had a team of 20 hand-trimmers before COVID-19. But their operations came to a screeching halt when the pandemic hit, considerably diminishing their workforce. They also faced significant challenges once the Public Health Department allowed Root One to reopen.

 

We were looking to expand capacity after COVID, and the pandemic put a dent into our bandwidth and employee availability.

Part of the reason for getting the Mobius trimmers was because we just didn't have the necessary personnel to continue working effectively while maintaining a safe, socially distanced work environment as mandated by the state.

Root One purchased a Mobius M108S Trimmer during summer 2020.

They selected, purchased, and implemented the Mobius Trimmer so farms experiencing a glut in processing could get the same high-quality results and resolve their challenges with fewer human trimmers.

The M108S also keeps Root One employees safe from pandemic-related concerns and ensures operations run smoothly even with a skeleton crew at the helm.

THE Results

The Mobius upgrade has helped Root One expand capacity, scale operations, and enhance throughput to meet their client’s high trimming demands.

We are back to fifteen in-house technicians, and with Mobius handling the trimming, our techs are no longer confined to just processing but can instead focus on activities that support the farms.

Root One is showing impressive figures since implementing the Mobius M108S. They’re averaging 60% flower to 40% trim as high as 70% and no lower than 50% when it comes to trim to flower ratios. The increased performance is beneficial when interfacing with the farms and community of growers who trust Root One with their seasonal work.

We are thrilled to know we’ve helped Root One navigate pandemic-related challenges while also setting the business up for increased performance and scalability.
